Schwab's Enterprise Architecture team is in search of a dynamic director for driving AI adoption across Schwab Technology Services. Under the direction of our CTO, the Enterprise Architecture team is tasked with overseeing Schwab's critical systems that ensure compliance with regulatory mandates. As a key member of the Enterprise Architecture leadership team, you will be responsible to shape our centralized AI architecture governance, influence AI engineering patterns development, and collaborate on regulatory operational functions.
This is not a people leader role. Key responsibilities for this individual contributor include:
- Enterprise AI Adoption : Collaborate with Architecture, Governance, Risk Management, and STS delivery stakeholders to:
- define and execute on the enterprise-wide AI adoption roadmap.
- influence Schwab's AI strategy to adopt AI at scale while meeting regulatory
- Governance & Compliance: Collaborate with enterprise risk management teams to:
- Optimize the risk due diligence experience among enterprise risk management stakeholders and establish end-to-end guidance for implementing AI solutions
- define the requirements for evolving AI architecture governance processes, methods, and frameworks
- support enhancements to STS Standards and Risk controls for governing AI
- Technical Leadership : Partner with technical architecture teams to influence development of engineering and architecture patterns
- Communication : Deliver presentations or workshops to educate stakeholders on AI capabilities and limitations.
- Training and Mentorship : Mentor and train diverse audiences on complex AI concepts
- Self-learning : Stay up to date with the latest AI trends, tools, and frameworks, recommending improvements to existing systems and processes
The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with a passion for innovative, cutting-edge technologies. In addition to a comprehensive understanding of AI technologies and architectures, this individual excels at articulating complex ideas and building consensus among diverse stakeholders. The candidate can apply substantial technical experience and expert-level architectural thinking to manage complex multi-year transformation initiatives, strategic programs, projects, and platform decisions.
What you have
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related discipline.
- 10+ years leading and managing architecture, consulting, and development teams, with demonstrated project management, resource management, consulting, and solution delivery capabilities.
- 2-5+ years of experience in AI architecture definition and practices, with a strong enterprise architecture background
- Experience with AI technologies, including Agentic AI, MCP, AI agents, and large language models (LLMs).
- Superior verbal and written communication abilities, with a talent for simplifying complex technical topics for varied audiences.
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple stakeholders across diverse workstreams and multiple levels of the organization.
In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
