Your OpportunityDirector, Enterprise Affairs
Schwab's Corporate Affairs team creates value by engaging stakeholders in Schwab's story, building trust and protecting and strengthening the firm's reputation. The Director, Enterprise Affairs will serve as the lead communications partner and advisor to three product and solutions enterprises at Schwab - Banking & Trust Services, Schwab Asset Management, and Wealth & Advice Solutions - that serve the needs of our Retail, Advisor Services, and Workplace clients. This role provides critical support to supporting and enhancing Schwab's reputation with both internal and external stakeholders. The director works closely with members of the Executive Council and their leadership teams to develop and drive internal communications strategies that foster employee engagement and pride, and external communications strategies that span executive visibility, product public relations, issues management, and executive social media. In this capacity, this role requires close collaboration with colleagues across Corporate Affairs to ensure that each enterprise's communications activities are aligned with industry and company best practices, the strategic objectives of our client-facing enterprises, and in support of broader corporate communications and reputation-driving goals and initiatives.
How You Will Contribute:
- Lead a team of communications professionals with expertise in media relations and employee communications. Ensure continued growth, development and engagement.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including EC members and their leadership teams, peers and colleagues across Corporate Affairs, and partners in other organizations including Marketing and HR.
- Serve as communications advisor and strategist to senior leaders on internal and external communications, particularly in areas that have potential to support or to protect Schwab's corporate reputation.
- Communicate directly with members of the media, both to coordinate opportunities for executives and also to serve as a spokesperson for Schwab when needed.
- Provide day-to-day counsel and execution support across internal and external communications activities and initiatives.
- Ensure that each enterprise has a thoughtful strategic communications plan and support model, drawing upon both the dedicated team and broader Corporate Affairs resources.
- Drive a data-driven approach to measuring communications results against objectives.
What you have
Required Experience & Skills:
- A minimum of a bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, marketing or a related field.
- A minimum of 15 years of experience in corporate internal and external communications. PR agency and/or corporate media relations experience preferred.
- Exceptional written and oral communications skills.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trust and influence across all levels of the organization and with external partners.
- Experience creating detailed, integrated communications plans.
- High level of agility, trouble shooting skills, and ability to respond quickly and thoughtfully to changing environment and demands. Ability to think through complex issues and to deliver recommendations to senior level executives.
- Exceptionally high degree of integrity, professionalism and ethical standards.
