Job Description:Director of Architecture, Automation and Financial Platforms
We're seeking a strategic and collaborative leader to drive the evolution of our financial operations ecosystem, with a focus on regulatory compliance, risk mitigation, and platform resilience. In this leadership role, you will champion architectural innovation, promote standardization, and deliver scalable technology solutions. You'll shape the product roadmap in alignment with business priorities and partner closely with engineering and business teams to design, implement, and deploy end-to-end solutions. As part of our Architecture community, you'll also contribute to enterprise strategy and mentor others in best practices.
The Expertise and Skills You Bring
Technical Architecture & Cloud Expertise
- 10+ years of experience architecting distributed systems and applications.
- 3+ years of experience with Azure and/or AWS; certification is a plus.
- Deep knowledge of APIs, microservices architecture, infrastructure, data architecture, and security, with authoritative expertise in one or more of these areas.
- Working knowledge of technical architecture pillars: operational excellence, security, reliability, performance efficiency, and cost optimization.
- Background with multiple enterprise technologies.
- Understanding of mainframe technology is desired but not required.
- Experience with mainframe modernization is a plus.
Strategic Thinking & Solution Design
- Demonstrated ability to analyze business direction and challenges, assess long-term vision, and develop strategic technical solutions.
- Ability to ensure technology decisions align with enterprise standards and strategy.
- Experience collaborating with peer architects to identify opportunities for process refactoring, customer experience improvements, and capability rationalization.
Agile & DevOps Delivery
- Authoritative understanding of Agile development methodologies and DevOps practices.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across technical and non-technical teams.
Communication & Influence
- Strong presentation, documentation, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to influence both technical teams and business stakeholders.
- Experience networking across business units and externally to promote reusable processes, patterns, and practices.
Industry Knowledge & Growth Mindset
- Experience in the financial services or benefits administration industry is a plus.
- Willingness to experiment, innovate, and continuously learn and grow.

As part of the WI Technology Architecture team, you will be key player in helping move us forward into our digital future and digital transformation of our business. As an Architect within Fidelity Investments Workplace Investing (WI), you are responsible for establishing the strategic direction, setting standards and choosing technologies across WI. You will work closely with business partners and technology teams to understand business objectives and help define appropriate architecture direction for them. By working closely with Solution Architects and Agile teams, you will assess and ensure how proposed solutions to specific initiatives align with broader WI goals and strategies.

The base salary range for this position is $126,000-255,000 USD per year.
Placement in the range will vary based on job responsibilities and scope, geographic location, candidate's relevant experience, and other factors.
Base salary is only part of the total compensation package. Depending on the position and eligibility requirements, the offer package may also include bonus or other variable compensation.
