The Banking and Move Money (BMM) Technology organization is the heart of the Core Technology Solutions group providing the said business capabilities to Schwab clients. Our mission is to empower and develop our people to provide technology solutions and thought leadership that delivers innovative and cost optimized Banking, Move Money and Sweep capabilities. We strive to embody Schwab's Through Clients' Eyes strategy through our people and creative solutions.
As a Java Development Engineer, you guide design decisions using your expertise in testing and collaboration with technical, business, and stakeholder teams. You design and develop reliable solutions aligned with Schwab's strategy, clarify requirements, research technical options, and support production issue resolution. Your innovative problem-solving drives the delivery of scalable, cost-effective Banking and Move Money capabilities, advancing Schwab's mission to broaden investing access and reflect the "Through Clients' Eyes" approach.
What you have
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, related degree, OR related practical experience
- 6+ years of experience in actively developing large scale software using: Java, Spring framework, Spring Batch, cloud development, Web Services and Batch jobs supporting high volume transactions in a highly available environment.
- 3+ years of experience working with containers and microservices in the cloud.
- 3+ years of experience in cloud deployment in a continuous integration, and continuous delivery model (CI/CD).
- 3+ years of experience with Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF), or AWS or GCP.
- 3+ years' experience working with databases like MongoDB, Aerospike, and/or PostgreSQL.
- Proficiency in AI-Driven software development tools such as GitHub Copilot or similar for improving productivity, code comprehension and documentation
- Track record of pursuing and maintaining high quality while delivering on tight schedules.
- Collaborative mindset coupled with a bias for action to effectively engage with all areas of the business including Product Management, Architects, SRE, and dependent domains.
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders including offshore teams.
- Demonstrated ability to disagree, argue your case with data, and commit to deliver regardless of the outcome of the disagreement
- Ability to analyze and solve problems creatively
- Track record of mentoring and coaching that results in a stronger organization
Preferred Qualifications:
- Good knowledge of messaging technologies (Rabbit MQ, Kafka, or equivalent)
- Experience in working with multiple teams simultaneously
- Experience in Financial Services industry
- Experience in Test Driven Development, QA Automation and Quality mindset and behaviors
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills with the demonstrable ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
- Knowledge of Agile methodology and experience in an Agile working environment
- Experience with the Atlassian tool stack (JIRA and Confluence)
