Job Description:Manager, Investments Center of Excellence
The Role
As a Manager within the Investments Center of Excellence (COE), you will play a critical role in supporting the modernization and transformation of investment accounting operations across FMR LLC's consolidated portfolio. In addition to supporting technical and operational accounting policies, you will serve as a business analyst, focusing on gathering and analyzing business requirements, facilitating stakeholder communication, and delivering data-driven insights to support strategic initiatives, including the implementation of new investment accounting technologies and processes.
You will collaborate with business unit accountants, auditors, finance, tax, treasury, and controllership teams to ensure investment data integrity, process efficiency, and alignment with firm-wide objectives. Your analytical mindset and ability to translate complex business needs into actionable solutions will be key to driving continuous improvement and supporting the evolution of investment products, including alternative investments.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather, document, and validate business and functional requirements for investment accounting initiatives.
- Analyze investment data and operational processes to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
- Translate business needs into clear specifications for technology teams and external vendors (e.g., Clearwater Analytics).
- Develop and maintain business process documentation, data flow diagrams, and reporting requirements.
- Support the implementation of new investment accounting platforms by coordinating testing, validation, and user acceptance activities.
- Partner with accounting and technology teams to design and implement scalable, compliant, and efficient investment processes and controls.
- Provide analytical support for investment-related inquiries and strategic decision-making.
- Mentor and coach team members, contributing to a collaborative and high-performing team culture.
The Expertise and Skills You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting; CPA and/or Master's degree preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in investment accounting, financial systems implementation, or business analysis.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, investment accounting principles, and internal controls
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience in data analysis, process mapping, and requirements gathering.
- Familiarity with alternative investments and partnership structures is a plus
- Proficiency in financial systems and reporting tools (e.g., Oracle, InvestOne, Workiva, Power BI, Tableau).
- Ability to balance detail orientation with strategic thinking and execution.
- Highly motivated, flexible, quality focused team player with excellent organizational skills
- Ability to quickly grasp complex organizational/ownership structures.
- You are passionate about details while maintaining a broad view of business objectives.
- Excellent communication, organization, and stakeholder management skills.
