As a Portfolio Manager III within PNC's Technology organization, you will be based in Pittsburgh PA.

The Portfolio Manager III is a senior-level role within the CTO Business Office responsible for driving portfolio governance, strategic planning, investment prioritization, and delivery transparency across key technology initiatives. You'll partner with senior technology and business leaders to ensure the CTO portfolio is aligned to enterprise strategy, funded appropriately, executed predictably, and communicated clearly.

Key Responsibilities
Portfolio Strategy & Planning
• Lead portfolio planning cycles (annual and quarterly), partnering with CTO and business leaders to align initiatives to enterprise priorities and outcomes.
• Translate strategy into an actionable portfolio roadmap, including dependencies, sequencing, capacity, and investment needs.
• Facilitate prioritization decisions using value, risk, regulatory/compliance, and capacity inputs.
Governance & Operating Rhythm
• Own and continuously improve the portfolio governance model (intake, scoring, approvals, stage gates, and change control).
• Establish and run executive operating rhythms (portfolio reviews, QBRs, steering committees, and performance readouts).
• Ensure consistency in how initiatives are defined, measured, and reported across the portfolio.
Financial & Investment Management
• Partner with Finance to manage portfolio budgets, forecasts, run-rate visibility, and variance analysis.
• Support investment cases (business cases), including value hypothesis, benefits tracking, and ROI/impact measurement.
• Track and report on financial performance and ensure funding aligns with delivery plans and outcomes.
Delivery Transparency & Performance Reporting
• Create executive-level dashboards and narratives that communicate status, milestones, risks, tradeoffs, and decisions needed.
• Monitor portfolio health across delivery, financials, scope, dependency risks, and resource/capacity.
• Drive corrective actions by identifying systemic issues and facilitating escalation paths and resolution plans.
Stakeholder & Change Leadership
• Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, driving alignment and resolving conflicts across teams and functions.
• Influence outcomes without direct authority by building strong relationships and enabling clear decision-making.
• Mentor junior portfolio/project managers and help standardize best practices.

Required Qualifications
• Experience in portfolio management, program management, or technology strategy/operations, with increasing scope and complexity.
• Proven experience operating in an enterprise technology portfolio environment (multiple workstreams, dependencies, executive stakeholders).
• Strong understanding of portfolio governance, financial management, and delivery metrics.
• Demonstrated ability to create executive-ready reporting and facilitate portfolio-level decision-making.
• Excellent communication skills-able to simplify complexity and drive clarity across leadership audiences.
• Proficiency with tools such as Jira/Confluence, MS Project, Planview/Clarity, ServiceNow PPM, Power BI/Tableau, and advanced Excel/PowerPoint (tooling can vary).
• Familiarity with Agile delivery models (Scrum/Kanban), product portfolio practices, and hybrid governance.

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working in or alongside a CTO Business Office, technology COO function, or enterprise transformation office.
• Experience with capacity planning, demand management, and intake/triage processes.
• Relevant certifications: PfMP, PMP, PgMP, SAFe (SPC/POPM), ITIL, or Lean Portfolio Management.

Job Description
- Manages the facilitation and coordination of all assigned portfolios. Leads the highest complexity of portfolios which require planning, oversight, and communication across multiple segments channels or lines of business. Typically, portfolio size may be greater than $70m.
- Manages the development and approval process for strategic initiative governance for assigned portfolios.
- Participates in the development and review of analysis and reporting information related to key strategic portfolio milestones.
- Oversight and accountability for the portfolio budget while working to ensure success of the portfolio.
- Acts as a mentor to other portfolio managers. Works across multi-disciplinary functions, and manages vender relationships to ensure success of the portfolio. Consults with project and program managers/teams as needed.
