The Schwab Technology Services (STS) Portfolio & Project Management (PPM) organization partners with Business and Technology Leaders to prioritize and execute technology work for strategic business-sponsored initiatives, enhancements, and standard technology operations. Within this organization, this role supports the Fraud Portfolio, focusing on initiatives that protect Schwab and its clients through the delivery of critical fraud prevention, detection, and response capabilities. This work ensures STS capacity is aligned to the most important risk-mitigation and client-protection priorities for the firm.
Project Managers are responsible for establishing and leading enterprise-wide, cross-functional strategic initiatives within the Fraud Portfolio. They lead a variety of project types, including the delivery of fraud technology solutions, large-scale application development, systems integration, operational efficiency improvements, process reengineering, and infrastructure upgrades and deployments that strengthen fraud prevention and response capabilities.
As Schwab transitions to a scaled agile model, this role requires a blend of traditional project management expertise and scaled agile methodology experience, partnering closely with business, technology, and risk stakeholders to deliver outcomes that reduce fraud risk and enhance client trust.
Position Responsibilities:
- Accountable for defining, planning, orchestrating, and delivering a given strategic initiative including business, operational, and information technology deliverables
- Ensures end results are of the highest caliber with a clearly articulated scope and quantifiable business benefit
- Directs large-scale, complex projects often involving multiple internal and external constituents and partners
- Directly manages all aspects of the project life cycle and oversees all phases of a project
- Rigorously manages scope to ensure commitments are achieved within agreed upon time, cost, and quality parameters
- Validates financial forecasts, cost assumptions, and provides on-going reconciliation of resources and other related project expenditures
- Works with resource managers to ensure that resource capacity planning is accurately forecast, and provides ongoing reconciliation of actual time spent against forecasts
- Defines and tracks project milestones while developing, maintaining, and reporting on an overall integrated delivery plan
- Handles risks and issues management for the project-level risks and interdependencies
- Partners with Product Owners and Scrum Masters to track Agile development milestones and support Agile practices as needed
- Manages team relationships to ensure effective delivery
- Facilitates problem-solving and resolves stakeholder conflict
- Teaches, coaches, and mentors team members to remove roadblocks and drive project execution

What you have
Required Qualifications:
- 8+ years of project management experience, managing multiple large, complex and cross functional projects, with emphasis on product development, systems, and technical environments
- 8+ years of experience with project management tools and artifacts, including MS Project, Jira, Confluence, SharePoint, project budgets, change requests, status reports, etc.
- Demonstrated ability to mobilize and motivate teams, set direction and approach, resolve conflict, deliver tough messages with grace
- Proven experience with and understanding of various software development methodologies, including Agile/Scrum
- Proven ability to quickly build relationships and earn the trust of sponsors and key stakeholders
- Demonstrated, applied experience establishing and delivering complex projects
- BA/BS Degree or equivalent experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- F raud industry experience
- Experience in a scaled agile environment
- Release Train Engineer experience
- Background/experience in financial services industry
- PMP or PMI-ACP certification
