Job Description
The Business Systems Analyst Sr - Agile/Jira serves as a key liaison between business stakeholders and technology teams, supporting a rules engine platform that drives customer access, permissions, account visibility, and product-related decisioning. This role helps ensure business requirements are clearly defined and translated into solutions that enhance customer experience and support organizational objectives.
Working closely with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, and Engineering teams, the Business Systems Analyst gathers and analyzes requirements, creates user stories, and maintains Jira documentation to support Agile delivery.
Core Responsibilities
- Gather, analyze, and document business and functional requirements for new features, enhancements, and system changes within the rules engine platform.
Participate actively in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily standups, reviews, and retrospectives.- Manage and maintain Jira stories, epics, tasks, and supporting documentation to ensure development teams have the information required for successful execution.
- Translate business needs into clear, concise user stories, acceptance criteria, and Jira artifacts for Agile development teams.
- Collaborate with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, and Engineering teams to ensure requirements are understood, prioritized, and delivered successfully.
- Facilitate discussions between business stakeholders and technical teams to clarify objectives, dependencies, and expected outcomes.
- Analyze business processes and identify rule-based requirements that support customer access, product visibility, account controls, and related capabilities.
- Create high-level functional designs and workflow documentation to support development and implementation efforts.
- Evaluate the business impact of requested changes and recommend solutions aligned with organizational goals and customer experience objectives.
- Support testing activities by validating requirements, reviewing delivered functionality, and assisting in issue resolution.
- Partner with stakeholders to identify risks, dependencies, and opportunities for process improvement throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Ensure requirements are traceable, complete, and aligned with business priorities from initiation through implementation.
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Hands-on experience creating user stories, documenting requirements, and developing acceptance criteria within Agile environments.
- Strong working knowledge of Jira for backlog management, story creation, tracking, and Agile delivery support.
- Experience participating in Agile ceremonies and working within Scrum or other Agile frameworks.
- Proven ability to gather, analyze, and translate business requirements into actionable development deliverables.
- Understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and requirements management best practices.
- Experience working directly with Engineering teams, Product Owners, and Scrum Masters in cross-functional environments.
- Strong communication, facilitation, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience creating process flows, functional documentation, or high-level solution designs preferred.
- Prior experience supporting financial services, banking, or rule-based decision making
