Skills and Competencies

• 2+ years of experience in software development and engineering within a financial services, ratings, or data-driven technology environment
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Java, Python, or C#, with strong front-end development experience using Angular, and demonstrated ability to write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code
• Experience with web application frameworks, RESTful API design and development, and integration with enterprise systems
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud, including deployment, monitoring, and configuration management
• Familiarity with relational and non-relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or NoSQL solutions), including data querying and performance optimization
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycle best practices including version control (Git), Agile methodologies, code review processes, and automated testing
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and collaborate across cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment
• Demonstrated proficiency in artificial intelligence concepts, with hands-on experience using AI tools to streamline workflows and enhance operational efficiency. Proven ability to implement AI-powered solutions to solve business challenges. Demonstrates a growing awareness of AI risk management and a commitment to responsible and ethical AI use.

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain scalable software solutions that support Moody's Ratings technology platforms and business operations.

• Develop, test, and deploy high-quality software features and enhancements across the full technology stack in support of ratings workflow and data systems
• Collaborate with product owners, business analysts, and technology stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions
• Participate actively in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, and code reviews to ensure continuous delivery and improvement
• Write clean, reusable, and well-documented code, following established engineering standards and security best practices
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve technical issues across development, testing, and production environments in a timely manner
• Contribute to the design and optimization of databases, APIs, and integrations that support ratings data processing and reporting
• Support the adoption of emerging technologies and AI-driven capabilities within the team, helping to identify opportunities for automation and process improvement
• Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge and share learnings with team members to build collective expertise across the engineering function

Based in Charlotte, NC, our engineers work at the intersection of finance and technology, developing the systems and tools that enable analysts, risk professionals, and business leaders to deliver timely and accurate ratings to the global market. For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is $95,500.00 - $138,550.00, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation. Moody's also offers a competitive benefits package, including not but limited to medical, dental, vision, parental leave, paid time off, a 401(k) plan with employee and company contribution opportunities, life, disability, and accident insurance, a discounted employee stock purchase plan, and tuition reimbursement.
