The Retirement Plan Services Digital team is responsible for offer design, product management and platform operations and innovation for Schwab's retirement plan solutions. Our mandate is to strengthen and extend our digital offering to more participants, plan sponsors, and consultants as we work to further our scale and create more tailored experiences for key segments of our client base. To do this, we work with partners and delivery organizations to ensure key processes / interactions are designed and executed smoothly.
As a Sr. Digital Product Manager on the Retirement Plan Services Platform Team, you will be responsible for identifying and evaluating opportunities to modernize the recordkeeping system to better meet the needs of our internal business teams, plan sponsors, and plan participants across the financial spectrum. The capabilities in this area will help form the basis of how the firm meets our participants' and sponsors' needs and help drive operational efficiency gains, risk reduction, and modernization. You will lead a team of product owners who support the development and delivery of operational efficiencies, client commitments, and regulatory requirements within the RPS operational core recordkeeping platforms and processing systems.
Responsibilities include;
- Build and socialize a roadmap aligned to market needs, client demand, and business impact.
- Analyze client, market, and competitor insights; synthesize internal user feedback.
- Partner with stakeholders and technology to define MVPs, releases, and trade-offs.
- Make decisions amid ambiguity; assess risk/impact and escalate trade-offs as needed.
- Link initiatives to strategy; anticipate downstream impacts, risks, and opportunities.
- Own delivery; manage risks, commitments, and accountability across initiatives.
- Drive alignment with clear communication and decision forums/documentation.
- Influence stakeholders; balance priorities using data, narrative, and relationships.
- Prioritize by feasibility, client value, regulatory need, and ROI; align sequencing and manage ART/portfolio backlog.
- Define and communicate product vision and goals.
- Coach Product Owners to break down epics into increments; resolve escalations and recommend paths forward.
- Communicate risks, trade-offs, scope, and timeline; manage dependencies, process changes, and team capacity.
- Manage products to drive client satisfaction and business outcomes.
- Additional responsibilities may include:
- Set SLAs for scale, availability, and performance with technology.
- Own intake and prioritization of enhancements and defects.
- Define OKRs aligned to business goals; report post-launch progress
What you have
Required Experience:
- Prior Retirement business, Retirement Recordkeeping and Operational experience.
- Strong operations/process knowledge to make trade-offs, troubleshoot, and define workarounds.
- 5-7 years' experience managing requirements for multiple large, complex and cross functional projects. Emphasis on systems, technologies, business process redesign, and knowledge of technical environments
- 5-7 years' experience in software development methodology (Agile Framework) Competence in Microsoft Office tools including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent business experience
- Strategic mindset to help drive product management decisions, governance, and long-term vision
- Product and project management skills; business judgment, including ability to balance resources, evaluate and address risks, and concisely articulate where trade-off decisions are to be made
- High attention to detail and the ability to see things through from concept to implementation
- Experience coaching and developing others; raising standards for judgment, communication, and ownership.
- Experience in driving consistent documentation practices that support traceability from discovery through delivery.
- Improve processes, tools, and workflows to balance speed, quality, and risk.
- Lead cross-functional work; clarify ownership and decision rights. Coordinate cross-functional teams to deliver product outcomes.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills - ability to quickly analyze data to identify key insights and apply them to the business; quantitative and qualitative analysis
- Confidence in presenting both strategic and tactical vision to the team and management for both big-picture planning and day-to-day management of project goal.
- Ability to align and unify ALL stakeholders to a shared vision and a common focus; including senior leaders
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational and negotiation skills
- Strong orientation to clients, including ability to understand needs and apply this knowledge to product enhancements, online user experience, and communication content (internal and external)
- Ability to analyze and communicate technology recommendations to business stakeholders
- Securities Industry/Operational background preferred; a focus on operational efficiency and straight through processing.
- Prior working knowledge of JIRA, Confluence and Rally or any related Scrum tools preferred
