Our teams build and modernize platforms that support critical workplace solutions across retirement, equity administration, Personal Choice Retirement Account services, and other financial services experiences used by millions of participants.
In this role, you will help design, build, and improve scalable technology solutions that support Schwab's growth in the Workplace market. You will contribute to platform modernization efforts, including API development, foundational system improvements, legacy remediation, and cloud-enabled engineering practices that improve stability, performance, resilience, security, and integration speed. You will use strong technical judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making to deliver outcomes that reduce risk, improve client and participant experiences, and support meaningful business growth.
You will be part of a collaborative engineering environment where ideas are valued, technical influence matters, and teams are encouraged to challenge assumptions, adapt to change, and solve complex problems together. This role is ideal for someone who brings deep backend engineering expertise, a continuous improvement mindset, and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders while helping shape the future of workplace financial services.

Required Qualifications
- 9+ years of experience developing web services and applications on Microsoft platforms.
- Advanced experience with .NET development, including modern .NET, .NET Core, and C# for scalable backend application development.
- Experience building web applications and services using ASP.NET Core, including Web API, MVC, Razor Pages, or Blazor.
- Strong SQL experience, including T-SQL, query optimization, indexing strategies, and execution plan analysis.
- Experience designing and developing REST APIs that support scalable, secure, and maintainable integrations.
- Experience with service-oriented architecture, microservices, domain-driven design, clean architecture, dependency injection, and inversion of control principles.
- Experience supporting secure application design and implementation, including authentication, authorization, and secure coding practices.
- Experience with automated unit testing, integration testing, end-to-end testing, and quality engineering practices that improve code reliability and maintainability.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, version control, and collaborative software development practices.
- Strong problem-solving, estimation, communication, and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or a related technical field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cloud computing platforms such as GCP or AWS, including cloud-native services, storage, secrets management, functions, and containerized application deployment.
- Experience with containerization and orchestration practices, including Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with event-driven architecture and message broker technologies.
- Experience using code quality tools, static analysis, and engineering practices that improve application stability, security, and maintainability.
- Experience with test-driven development, behavior-driven development, and modern testing frameworks.
- Experience using AI-assisted coding tools to improve developer productivity, engineering quality, and delivery efficiency.
- Understanding of prompt engineering and how AI-enabled tools can be applied responsibly to software development workflows.
- Experience working in highly regulated, high-scale, or financial services technology environments.
- Ability to influence technical direction, contribute to modernization decisions, and adapt solutions as business and platform needs evolve.
